A car bomb has killed a senior Pakistani anti-terror police officer. Chaudhary Aslam, who had arrested dozens of Pakistani Taliban during his career, was travelling in a police convoy through Karachi when a car packed with explosives rammed his vehicle.Three other officers were killed alongside Aslam.Aslam, known for being one of Karachi’s toughest police officers, had escaped previous attempts on his life. Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Inspector General of Sindh Police, paid tribute to Aslam:“He was a brave officer. His role in the fight against terrorism being fought by Sindh police was vital. His martyrdom undoubtedly is a great loss to the Sindh police. But his sacrifice gives us strength to continue with his mission against terrorism. The way he was fighting terrorism, we (the Sindh Police) will continue to fight,” said BalochThe Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. It described Aslam’s death as a “huge victory.”Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the bombing.
